Who will you vote for on 4th July? To help you make up your mind, Newham Voices asked the parties to tell our readers what they are offering. Here is the Liberal Democrat reply.
This election is our chance to win the change our country desperately needs. Every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote to increase our influence, and to elect a strong local champion who will fight for a fair deal for you and your community. We want a fair deal where everyone can afford a decent home somewhere safe and clean – with a comfortable retirement when the time comes. A fair deal where every child can go to a good school and have real opportunities to fulfil their potential. A fair deal where everyone can get the high-quality health and social care they need, when they need it and where they need it.
A vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote for our seven core values: liberty, equality, democracy, community, human rights, internationalism, and environmentalism. For Newham we have three strong candidates fighting locally and nationally.
Hillary Briffa is standing for East Ham. She has a deep commitment to education, nurturing young minds as a Lecturer at King’s College London.
Emily Bigland is standing for West Ham and Beckton. She is the CEO of a charity delivering hospice services, supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
Janey Little is standing for Stratford and Bow. She is Chair of the Young Liberals, and is on the Lib Dem Women executive and the Federal Policy Committee. On 4 July vote for change and a party with community led values.
