Hammers need fire power, but Moyes steers them to fourth

West Ham United manager David Moyes enjoyed a happy return to Goodison Park with a 1-0 victory, the goal a powerful close-range header from Angelo Ogbonna which ended Everton’s perfect home record in the Premier League.

How both teams could have done with the late lethal maestro marksman Jimmy Greaves whose funeral was held on 22 October. Between them they could only muster up six shots on target  in 90 minutes – pretty poor bearing in mind they train every day and shooting practice is part of their routine.

Harry Redknapp popped by to see me in Poplar after attending Jimmy Greaves’ funeral in Chelmsford, Essex. We talked about how the area has changed since we were young boys growing up in the ‘50s and ‘60s and of course we talked about West Ham and how well they are doing this season.

This could be the reason why the Hammers have reportedly already started talks to sign Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette in the January window. He netted his 200th goal for the Gunners against Crystal Palace on 18 October.

A couple of weeks on and Michail Antonio sealed a fantastic winner as he proved too strong for Tottenham’s Harry Kane, pinned him back, stabbed in his seventh goal of the season from just a few yards out to send West Ham into 4th spot after beating Spurs.

Finally, the Football Association has published yet another review –  this time on the disgraceful scenes at the Euro 2020 Final.

We, like other countries, have always had a hooligan element at both national and club level so I don’t get how at the Euro Final, the biggest football match since the 1966 World Cup Final, had such an abysmal lack of security.

Who at the FA was in charge of the operations for this game? It is crystal clear there was no planning or strategy. Were they enjoying their prawn sandwiches in Corporate Hospitality and expecting stewards on minimum/living wage to deal with unruly hooligans or some who just thought let’s not pay?

I along with John Stiles, son of the great jovial Nobby Stiles was invited to number 10 Downing Street to hand in The People’s FA Blueprint/Solution which explains what the FA structure and governance should look like in the 21st century (an open door and not the closed door we have now).

You can learn more about The People’s FA – One Person, One Vote by going to our website www.faequalitynow.com and see what we are proposing to make the biggest change in football history,. It’s a big ask but it is well overdue. We want membership of the Football Association to be open to anyone and we are trying to get rid of the archaic, old-fashioned FA and to modernise it and make it The People’s Football Association!
