Updating the council on the response to the Covid-19 pandemic and its recovery strategy, the Mayor said they were particularly aware of how young people in education had been hard-hit because of the emotional impact of remote-learning.
But the report did not go down well with Councillor Neil Wilson (Plaistow South) who said he was disappointed that the report did not contain enough figures as he had requested earlier. “The report is too general, almost resembling I’m tempted to mention Orwellian newspeak,” he said. “We need more clarity and this is not telling the full story about what is being done. I’m frustrated not to have the figures.”
His complaint brought an apology from the Mayor who promised that the data he requested is available and will be passed on.
