The lack of access to good quality public toilets in Newham has prompted a call for urgent action from the Council.

A draft resolution presented by Councillor Simon Rush called for a review of the existing public toilets scheme, adoption of design standards in installation of new toilets, an annual maintenance plan, and inspections of council buildings to see if public toilets could be put in.

Councillors Danny Keeling and Neil Wilson, who reported on a new toilet that has been opened in Little Ilford Park, both stressed how people with certain medical conditions and parents with young children need access to nearby public toilets. Councillor Susan Masters asked for a map to be produced showing locations of public toilets. The resolution was agreed.
