West Ham Park celebrates 150th birthday and gets Green Flag

The Green Flag Award scheme recognises well-managed parks and green spaces

Crowds of residents flocked to West Ham Park over the weekend of 20-21 July to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the park. 

The park which is managed by the City of London Corporation and with the support of local residents and the Friends of West Ham Park there were a number of celebration events, stalls and musical performances at the Park bandstand. 

At the same time West Ham Park and Epping Forest are among 15 of the City of London Corporation’s open spaces that have been awarded a prestigious Green Flag. 

The Green Flag Award scheme recognises well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark for the management of outdoor spaces across the UK and around the world. A further six Newham parks have also been awarded Green Flags.
