Qurbani food parcels for vulnerable groups

Distribution a ‘powerful demonstration of charity action’ says councillor

The charity Islamic Relief UK, working with local partner Sisters Forum during the religious festival of Qurbani just before Eid in June, delivered 200 food packs to vulnerable families and people affected by the cost-of-living crisis.

The Islamic tradition of Qurbani is a time when Muslims across the world and the UK donate meat to the poor to help them provide food for their families.

Tufail Hussain, director, Islamic Relief UK comments: “Each year we donate food at Qurbani, we find ourselves having to give more and more, as the need has just exponentially worsened over the years.”

Stratford Councillor Sabia Kamali, pictured left, said Sisters Forum’s distribution of Qurbani meat to refugees, victims of abuse and low-income families is a powerful demonstration of charity action.
