Breadline at Applecart Arts drew offer to perform more widely, reports Neandra Etienne

Jazanne Arts collaborated with Newham-based Agewell drama group, an amateur drama group of Newham residents that has been going for nearly ten years, to write and perform Breadline, an original new social drama at Applecart Arts Theatre in East Ham.
Set in a food bank, it shows the different perspectives of the residents who visit the food bank. Sarah, played by Jacqui Livingston, first appears aggressive and angry, which she demonstrates through her body language and clothes. As you follow Sarah’s journey you realise why she finds herself needing the support of the food bank. It is encouraging to see Sarah’s growth by the end of the play.
Newham-based Agewell drama group performed to an audience that included Councillor Joy Laguda and Sir Stephen Timms, Labour MP for East Ham, who has offered to help the company have the play performed more widely.
Newham Voices reporter and the founder of Agewell drama group Zhenreenah Muhzinga played Jayne in the play.
