Amber Tysiak is a professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Women Super League club West Ham United. Amber Tysiak has made 21 appearances for Belgium internationally. Despite being of Italian descent she has featured for Belgium’s U17 and U19 teams.

Youth Career

She started playing football around the age of five, with the boys at KFC Helson (Helchteren). In the youth team she played as a central defensive midfielder before transitioning to a centre half.

West Ham

Tysiak’s professional career took off when she signed for the Hammers in January 2023. Before the transfer she had played for Genk between 2016 and 2020 and OH Leuven from 2020 to 2023.

Strengths

A composed centre back, who plays with a maturity beyond her years, she has got a good reading of the game and can be viewed as an aerial threat because of her great leap.

Weaknesses

Her inability to stay fit has meant she has missed the first part of her Hammers career. This is unfortunate as West Ham women’s manager was excited about signing her. Aside from this she has no glaring weaknesses.

She couldn’t wait to join West Ham

“I’m very excited to sign for West Ham United, this is a beautiful club with a rich history and I’m very happy to be here. I’ve been doing my research and I know West Ham is a historical, hard-working side that has always had players who work tirelessly for the badge.”

Interesting facts

• She has a bachelor’s degree in secondary education training

• Originally she combined football with a job as a teacher

• She scored a hat-trick in Belgium’s 19-0 win versus Armenia
