In a heart-warming display of community spirit and sporting talent, the Manor Youth Project recently hosted the Newham Youth Football League at the Little Ilford School 3G astroturf.

Supported by Newham Council and People Powered Places, this initiative is aimed at breaking down barriers to participation in grassroots football and easing the financial burden on local clubs.

The league, which offers free entry for teams across Newham, saw enthusiastic participation from Manor FC, AC Milano, St Antony, and H4 Football Club.

The teams, which represent various neighbourhoods including Manor Park, Upton Lane, West Ham, and Forest Gate, came together to showcase their skills and passion for the beautiful game.

“This was beautiful to see all young people from different areas of Newham come together to play football,” said Hafiz Ahmed, Sports Development Officer at Manor Youth Project. “It has always been our aim to make football free and accessible for grassroots and local teams in the Borough, and we are excited to see what the future holds.”

The atmosphere was electric as players exhibited their talent on the field. Beyond the thrill of competition, the league provided an invaluable platform for young football enthusiasts to bond, learn, and grow together as part of a vibrant community.

By providing a platform for youth football that is not only accessible but also free of charge, the Newham Youth Football League is not just promoting sports but fostering a sense of belonging and unity among the diverse communities of Newham.
