Previous London Boroughs of Culture include Lewisham, Brent, and Waltham Forest.
Newham will find out in March whether it has been successful in bidding to become London Borough of Culture for 2025.
The Borough is up against competition from eight other councils, They are: Barnet, Ealing, Greenwich, Hammersmith and Fulham, Haringey, Havering, Merton and Wandsworth.
