A community sauna project has opened a site in the heart of Stratford. The not-for-profit Community Sauna Baths has become a hot ticket since first opening in 2021 in Hackney Wick, with glowing write-ups in national newspapers and hosting 50,000 visitors, most of them who’ve never tried a sauna.

The new site in Stratford, close to Stratford International station, has three saunas and is part of the LightHouse & Gardens, a community garden and wellbeing space.

Community Sauna Baths launched in 2021 to make saunas and their benefits accessible to all. It does this by offering low entry fees as well as concessionary rates for those who can’t afford it. The sauna also hosts community-specific events, including a monthly trans night and sessions for pregnant women, parents and children who are facing tough times.
