Man dies in Plaistow flat fire

Fire crews were called to the scene at 5am this morning

A man has died in a fire in a flat in Plaistow this morning.

London Fire Brigade was called to the ground floor flat in Newport Avenue shortly after 5am.

The fire was under control soon after 6.30am however a man was pronounced dead at the scene by the London Ambulance Service.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police.
