Firefighters were called to a Canning Town tower block yesterday morning following a fire on the 19th floor balcony.

Part of the balcony was damaged by the fire in the flat on Western Gateway, believed to have been caused by a cigarette.

The fire brigade was called just before 2.30am and the fire was under control soon after 3.30am.
