Newham Heritage Month throughout June will be celebrating the theme ‘Our Creative Newham: Newham’s Arts and Cultural Heritage.’

The launch events include UK’s Bollywood dance, live poetry readings, DJ sets, local cuisine, special guest stars and more. Newham Heritage Month is organised by Newham Council and funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Royal Docks Team.

The Newham Heritage Month events line-up is live and ready for booking. The full programme will launch on 1 June 2023. Book tickets now for all the events, activities, and launch party, which will take place on 1 June, 5-8pm outside East Ham Library

The events programme will showcase Newham’s rich and diverse art, fashion, theatre, dance and music heritage, through free live and online events. This year’s line-up include: Modern Times; Albert Cinema Pop-up Experience by Performance Infinity CIC; From Pearly Queens to Grime MCs by Catalyst in Communities, Hear My Voice: Stories from the South Asian Diaspora by Farzana Hakim; The History of East London Textile Arts by East London Textile Arts and Only Joking: Remembering Stand Up Comedy Scene in Stratford by The New Black Film Collective.

There will be a project for the late fashion designer and couturier Lee Alexander McQueen CBE, who grew up in Newham . There will be opportunities specially tailored for Deaf people, including the chance to take part in an accessible arts workshop.
