Back in September last year, Newham Voices published an article about the funding and votes the people of Manor Park gave to our project and how we were setting out to make the garden you wanted to see.

And can I just personally say “WOW” – have you seen the results? Manor Park now has a beautiful community garden full of fruit, vegetables, flowers and butterflies, thanks to the hard work of the community: supporting, voting, planning, designing, building, volunteering, and connecting over the last 12 months.

We have a growing team of volunteers helping with watering and general duties during the week. At the weekends we are organising workshops and events in the garden from yoga, to gardening workshops in partnership with LoopLabs, to co-design workshops on renewable energy.

As a Newham Voices reader, do you have an activity you would like to run in the garden? We are now looking for ways to make the garden more accessible and open during the week. The garden is a beautiful sociable space, and a great place to meet your neighbours, it is also a great space to share knowledge and take part in art, crafts and growing. We are making compost, have tables and chairs, a huge greenhouse, tools and large raised beds.
