Ambition Aspire Achieve (AAA) have the following sessions during August:

Forest CrusadersGoals4Girls and Genesis Futsal played in a five-a-side women’s football tournament in Central Park, organised by the Royal Docks Team with activeNewham as part of Queens’ Roar! – a series of cultural moments celebrating women, football and culture. Forest Crusaders won the tournament after their win against Genesis Futsal in the final.

Free BMX sessions with Community Outdoor Group (COG) (ages 5+)

No booking required. Just turn up. Adults will need to attend to register children. Bikes and helmets provided. Please wear long sleeve tops, long trousers and full finger gloves.

Mondays and Wednesdays BMX, 10am-12pm – under 10s, 12-2pm – over 10s.

The National Tennis Association is offering free Disability Tennis Taster sessions which cater for all types of disability and are all inclusive.

They use special equipment, smaller courts and softer balls to ensure every- one gets to have a great tennis experience. For all ages. Saturdays, 3-4pm on 6, 13 and 20 August.

London Lions Basketball team have announced the signing of GB International Ovie Soko.

Soko returns to the club after a spell with Shiga Lakestars in the Japanese B.League. He has played internationally for Great Britain, and is poised to contribute to the growth of British basketball this season with the Lions’ landmark inclusion in the EuroCup.

Try a number of taster sessions in a variety of Commonwealth Games Sports at the Commonwealth Games Festival.

Sports you can try are: badminton, table tennis, cricket, volleyball, bas- ketball, boxing, judo, rugby and athletics.

East Village Management are working in partnership with Essex Cricket in the Community to offer free cricket sessions for children aged 5-11yrs over the summer holidays.

Funded places for All Stars www.ecb.co.uk/play/all-stars and Dynamos Cricket www.ecb.co.uk/play/dynamoscricket are available to children eligible for free school meals.

Sessions will take place every Tuesday 9:30am-11:30am on 9 August and 23 August.

Canning Town FC currently play in the Essex Olympian Football League, with teams in both the Premier Division and Division Five.

Home games are played at West Ham Community Pitch in Beckton, and the Bobby Moore Pavilion, Flanders Playing Field in East Ham.

Their league fixtures are still to be finalised but are scheduled to start on August 13. Before then, they have a friendly game.

Charlton Athletic, Sunday 14 August, The Oakwood. The match is scheduled to kick off at 2pm, but that is subject to change

Liverpool FC Women, Sunday 21 August, Loughborough University Stadium, kick off 1pm

Newham Swords Fencing Club has five fencers selected to take part in the Commonwealth Fencing Championships, and their Head Coach Pierre Harper, has also been selected as the Foil Coach for these Championships. The Championships will take place on the 6/ 7 August at the Sportsdock, home of Newham Swords! The club recently won trophies at both the British Youth and English Youth Championships, and now have two British Youth Champions and three English Youth Champions. They recently celebrated winning 100 medals (all top 4 finishes) this season, an achievement not equalled by any other club in the country!
