Thursday’s by-election follows the death of Labour councillor Neil Wilson

There are six candidates standing for election in Plaistow South ward following the death of Labour Councillor Neil Wilson last month.
The by-election will be held on Thursday 18 September, but the successful candidate will only be in office for a few months initially as the full Council and Mayoral elections are due to take place on 7 May next year.
The candidates are:
- Md Nazrul Islam, Newham Independents Party
- Rois Miah, Local Conservatives
- Sheree Miller, Liberal Democrats
- Lazar Monu, Reform UK
- Nick Motte, Green Party
- Asheem Singh, Labour Party
Councillor Wilson won the seat at the 2022 elections with 64 percent of the votes cast.
