Playing safe in Forest Gate

Bobby Wazzo on a new space for children

A tiny area in Forest Gate has been recognised by the City of London Police under the Safe Space for Children initiative. This is an area where parents can supervise their children in a positive and playful environment.

The Olive Garden in Katherine Road has set aside space for small children while their parents are using the restaurant. It was created by the Monega Residents Association, local people and shops.

Parent Roxy Ionescu said: “This is a tiny space, but it has matting, has the shade of a tree, and has plants and fencing around it, so myself and others can pop in and keep an eye on the kids knowing they are in a safe place.”
