Under the government-funded Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, children eligible for free school meals will enjoy a healthy lunch each day alongside engaging activities. The initiative, which is run in partnership with Eequ, offers a diverse range of activities in schools, community spaces, and sports venues across Newham, operating on a first-come, first-served basis.

The programme also provides tailored support for children with special educational needs or disabilities. Bookings are through the Eequ portal. For questions or assistance, email HAF@newham.gov.uk.

The broader programme, which is accessible to all Newham residents of ages four to 25, offers sports and creative sessions, including rowing, football, coding, gardening, arts and crafts, library workshops and seaside excursions. These will be hosted at Youth Zones, libraries, Family Hubs and local parks.

The Summer Reading Challenge returns for four to 11 year olds at Newham libraries, titled Story Garden, encouraging children to set reading goals and collect rewards.

The Youth Empowerment Service offers a universal summer programme for ten to 25 year olds, featuring youth worker support, fun activities, guidance and social opportunities. Family hubs also provide a range of services, from early learning support to wellbeing initiatives.
