The Mayor of Newham has welcomed plans that will see 6,300 new homes and potentially thousands of new jobs created in Silvertown.
The plans are a sign that the Borough will play a major role in the government’s plans to solve the country’s housing crisis, says Rokhsana Fiaz.

She welcomed the plans set out in a recently announced partnership between major developers Crown Estates and Lendlease which commits to delivering two major developments in Silvertown and in Stratford Cross, which has the potential to deliver over 1.6m sq ft of commercial space.

Mayor Fiaz said: “Lendlease’s announcement of its new partnership with The Crown Estate is a clear sign of investor confidence in our Borough.

“The Silvertown development, located in our majestic Royal Docks, is already a core part of London’s new growth plan. It is set to deliver 6,300 new homes on a 60-acre site, bringing real benefits to our residents and Londoners alike.

“With high-quality commercial space, Silvertown is poised to become a vibrant and dynamic new neighbourhood in Newham, offering affordable homes, jobs, and a raft of opportunities.

“I look forward to working closely with the Lendlease and Crown Estate teams, in collaboration with the Mayor of London and the GLA, to ensure we collectively deliver real benefits for Newham residents and all Londoners.”
