Newham residents had the chance to discover the work of UEL’s artists at Between People a graduate showcase at the University of East London’s Docklands Campus.

Between People brought together more than 100 works across four curated zones at the University’s Way Out East gallery. Spanning painting, photography, moving image, sculpture, print, illustration, animation, zines and more, the exhibition features final projects by students from Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography, Visual Communications, Commercial Photography, Foundation Art and Design, and MA Fine Art (Open Studio).

A rolling performance schedule animated the space throughout the run, with live interventions, actions and time-based works taking place across the campus. Across all four zones, visitors encounter powerful, personal and political responses to the world we live in: from
reflections on heritage and belonging, to challenges around gentrification, mental health, climate crisis and the body. It was a showcase of imagination and urgency – one that pulsed with the belief that art can both reflect and reshape reality.
