Newham Council’s budget cuts could mean they will stop maintaining the three bowling greens in the Borough; Plashet Park Bowls Club, Central Park Bowls Club and North Woolwich based Phoenix Bowls Club.

President and Captain Cliff Dye from the Plashet Park Bowls Club, told Newham Voices: “This could have serious consequences for the clubs and they could close. I have already been interviewed by ITV London and the Sunday Telegraph. Six Plashet Park Bowls Club bowlers including Secretary Del Master spoke to Sir Stephen Timms MP on Friday 25 October to stress their reasons why the bowls clubs in Newham should be exempt from budget cuts. Mr Timms gave the bowlers his support and will arrange to see the Mayor and the council’s finance team.”
