South Asian Heritage month finale packed Stratford Town Hall

performers on a stage

The month-long extravaganza of South Asian Heritage month that ended on August 17 concluded with two pioneer awards presented to Shin DCS – DJ Ritu and Surrinder Parwana, right – to honour their remarkable contributions to British Asian music and culture.

Over the month the programme showcased various talents, from local artist Naga Dharmasha Vardhini, a 17-year-old Bharatanatyam dancer, to internationally renowned artists like Rohan Roy, whose work has graced over 50 Bollywood movies.

The epic finale event, headlined by Shin DCS and DJ MD, filled Stratford Town Hall with infectious Bhangra beats, vibrant colours, and gave echoes of the golden era of underground daytime raves that touched the hearts of a generation.
