Jeff Levy is Plastic Free Forest Gate’s first Business Champion, reports Lorraine Tapper
Jeff Levy, owner of No 8 Forest Gate has become Plastic Free Forest Gate’s first Business Champion. In recognition, Councillor Rachel Trip presented Jeff with an award on 20 July.
Customers purchasing heavy items are given paper bags with the expectation they will be returned for use by another customer.
No 8 has reduced its use of single use plastic items and follows the sustainable ethos of reuse and supporting local producers and crafts.
Businesses are key to developing a plastic free community. As No 8 is considered a hub in the Forest Gate community, it is a fitting example of an environmentally ethical model for other interested businesses who also want to become plastic free. Forest Gate currently needs 11 more Business Champions to achieve plastic free status.
Cathy Stack runs EcoE7, a voluntary group supporting sustainability in the Forest Gate area through various initiatives and projects. One of the projects is the Plastic Free Forest Gate community scheme.
