Family Fun for August in Newham

Celebrating Windrush: Newham Windrush final event The Rites of Passage (30th August) features live performances: local schools, who received workshops throughout the summer from multidisciplinary artist Marilyn Fontaine, will have their artwork on display: designs created by Sakafet London fashion students during their weeklong Caribbean Creole Fashion course; and artwork created by senior residents of Hamara Ghar, Holden Point and members of Newham African Caribbean Resource Centre and Hibiscus Centre. newhamwindrushday.org

Royal Docks free Summer Splash, which includes deck chairs, giant sand pit, lido and entertainment, is suitable for families and all ages. Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult in the water. No Booking required. Runs until 18th August, Royal Victoria Dock (next to City Hall Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE)

West Silvertown Foundation’s free Summer Fun Day includes face painting, bouncy castles, talent show and Iroko Drummers. 17th August, 1pm-5pm, Britannia Village Green, E16 1UA

Stratford Centre’s summer kids clubs event Kung Fu Panda, 24th August. Event runs from 10am – 4pm and is free
