As Newham enters a new era with the transformation of the political landscape Newham Voices is organising an election debate for candidates and parties on June 29.
The hustings are a last chance for Newham voters to hear the arguments and to have their say before the vote on Thursday 4 July. Everyone is invited to join us Stratford Library, on Saturday 29 June at 12 Noon and refreshments will be provided!
All political parties and candidates have been invited and are expected to turn up to discuss what the vote means for Newham with a special focus on Stratford and Bow – the new constituency created after boundary changes, and one that is expected to be hard fought.
Newham Voices, which has organised previous election debates for council and Mayoral elections, is also preparing an election special for the July issue with exclusive interviews, details of what the parties stand for, and contributions from candidates. All points of view will be represented.
The issues are already well understood – a devastating homelessness and housing crisis – one of the worst in the country; the continuing scourge of child poverty and social inequality; and a deepening cost of living crisis that has left thousands behind across the Borough.
But what the answers? There will be no quick fixes, that’s for sure, but candidates and political parties have to come up with some credible and viable solutions. The priority will be for urgent action from the new Government to give priority to places like Newham. How will that happen?
Come and hear what the candidates and parties have to say for themselves and put your questions to them directly. More information from Info@newhamvoices.co.uk
