500 years of Black music

Newham musicians feature in new British Library exhibition, reports Neandra Etienne

Beyond the Bassline, a British Library exhibition about 500 years of Black British music, features events with Newham musicians Guvna B, D Double E and Tinchy Stryder. 

The exhibition also displays a magazine cover of Kele Le Roc and Professor Benjamin Zephaniah’s debut album ‘Rasta’. 

Grammy nominated musician Tiana Major 9, from Newham, will perform with Queer Bruk at the British Library in Euston Road, Kings Cross as part of the exhibition. Queer Bruk is an inclusive club night and platform that aims to celebrate Afro-Caribbean music and provide safe spaces for black queer people.
