The memorial to East Ham born singer Dame Vera Lynn will take the form of three-metre bronze disc, reports Neandra Etienne
A gala dinner will take place in April to raise funds for the completion of the memorial statue to honour the late Forces’ Sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn. The memorial to celebrate the life and work of Dame Vera and all entertainers during times of war, is due to be located at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
The memorial, created by artist Paul Day, will be a three-metre bronze disc with Dame Vera Lynn at the centre surrounded by scenes of forces military entertainment. The gala event will acknowledge the East Ham born singer’s life and legacy with a nostalgia-packed evening of celebration.
