Local photographer seeks pledges to publish book exploring trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming identities and experience

People Like Us is a photo-book project by Holly Revell, a photographer based in Newham, who regularly works for the Borough’s LGBTQ+ history month.
This collaborative project of six years explores trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming identities and experience from assigned female at birth perspectives.
Holly told Newham Voices: “It started with some friends who were coming out about their genders in 2017 and now includes more than 50 people from a rich variety of backgrounds and gender diversity.
“The book will be bursting with positive and joyful representation of these identities in bright colour, it will also include participants’ quotes and an essay by Hotpencil press.”
They are currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter to raise funds required to design, print and bind the highly acclaimed photo book which is due for release in October 2024. Backing it will not only support the project but will act as a pre-sale to secure a copy of this limited-edition book along with other rewards people can pledge for.
