The missing van

A Stratford theatre charity has issued an urgent appeal for the return of a stolen van containing their valuable drum instruments.

In the early hours of Monday 15 January the IROKO Theatre Company van was stolen from the bottom of Meath Road where it joins with Corporation Street, Stratford E15.

IROKO Theatre Company told Newham Voices, “There’s been no sighting of the van yet and we’ve had no luck with the Police investigations.”

The group have appealed to people it works with in schools, libraries, hospitals, older people’s units, children’s centres, prisons or within the wider community. They say anyone who comes across an African drum with IROKO inscribed on the wood or written on the skin should contact them on 0208 522 1950.

The van has enabled IROKO Theatre Company to spread joy and happiness to people of all ages and abilities, across the UK.

It’s their only van and without it the Stratford based Charity cannot deliver services to schools, older people and centres in the community.

One of their valued clients has kindly set up a GoFundMe Campaign to provide funds to enable IROKO to continue to deliver its much needed services and keep the Charity afloat.

The target of the GoFundMe Campaign, put together by a concerned teacher from a Special Needs School, is £2,000.

IROKO aim to acquire a new van so that they can continue to carry out their work in the communities.
