From the moment you step inside the Disney exhibition at the Royal Docks Excel Centre you are transported into a nostalgic magical journey through 100 years of The Walt Disney Company.

When you believe a thing, believe it all over, implicitly and unquestioningly.” – Walt Disney (1901 – 1966)

There’s lots to see and learn including rarely seen original works of art, memorabilia, classic cartoons, original costumes and interactive installations. It’s amazing to see the props used from Disney’s much loved iconic films, TV shows and theatre productions including: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937); the costume bodice used for live-action reference filming worn by Marge Champion, the Carousel horse used by Dick Van Dyke in the Oscar winning musical Mary Poppins (1964) the mask and hat from the 1957-1959 Zorro TV show worn by Guy Williams; and Mufasa’s costume and masks sculpted, painted and designed by Julie Taymor for The Lion King Broadway Musical (1997 – present).

Becky Cline, Director, Walt Disney Archives, said: “It took four years to plan and put together Disney100.”

The Exhibition, which includes ten themed galleries, contributions from Marvel Studios, the Walt Disney Archives, additional items from the Pixar Living Archives, the Walt Disney Animation Research Library and the collections of Walt Disney Imagineering.

But did you know Newham already has a connection to Disney through a Marvel superhero? Millennium Mills was a key location in the Spider-Man: Far From Home film starring Tom Holland.

Disney100: The Exhibition was developed and curated by the Walt Disney Archives and Semmel Exhibitions. It runs until January 2024, ExCeL London, One Western Gateway, Royal Victoria Dock, E16 1XL.
