NewVIc student Khalam represented Team GB in the European Fencing Confederation U17 in Nuremberg. Khalam achieved the top 70 position out of 200 young people who played on Sunday 19 and Monday 20 November 2023. His goal is to compete in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
Tessa Sanderson Run is an all-inclusive running group. All ages, genders and abilities are welcome to run, jog or walk 2-5 km around West Ham Park.

Former Newham Recorder Editor and Ambition Aspire Achieve trustees Colin Grainger is taking part in his annual Sponsored Swim to raise funds for the Kevin Jenkins OBE Newham Christmas Toy Appeal. Colin will be diving for the 46th year in a row. He aims to complete 50 lengths breast stroke to help raise money for the appeal, despite recently undergoing a hernia operation. But he is determined to do it again this December.
Newham based Thames Dragon Boat Club took 22 people to Hong Kong to participate in the Dragon Boat racing event as part of the 11th Gay Games last month. . Thames Dragons came back with a fifth place in the All-gender, fourth in the Women’s, third in the Men’s and second in the International Competition.
