Advert: London Borough Of Newham Audit Committee Vacancy For Independent Co-Optees

Help review Newham Council’s arrangements for internal control, financial management and corporate governance.

Building a fairer Newham

The London Borough of Newham is committed to delivering and promoting good governance. As part of that commitment, Newham has established an Audit Committee to review all of the Council’s arrangements for internal control, financial management and corporate governance.

The Audit Committee is comprised of elected members and 3 independent members, of which 1 role is currently vacant.

Ideally, the independent members should offer a range of different skills and experience. The ideal candidates will be experts in financial control and management, possibly with an audit background.

Applications cannot be accepted from candidates if they are currently a Member, Co-opted Member, an Advisor to the Mayor of London Borough of Newham, employee or a consultant to the authority in any capacity, or have been within the last 5 years; or if they are a relative or are a close friend of such a person.

Independent members should live or work in Newham. The Audit Committee is scheduled to meet approximately 6 times a year. Relevant training will be provided. An annual allowance will be paid of £565. Out of borough travel can be reimbursed. The term of office is two years with the possibility of extension for a further two years.

If you are interested in serving on the Committee, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please send your CV and supporting statement outlining how your skills and experience relate to the role to:
