Is your child our next cricketing star?

Newham Cricket Club held their family friendly event Cricket on the Field, supported by Born Everywhere Made in Newham, at Flanders Field, East Ham.

Recognised cricketers who have previously played at Flanders Field include former England captain Nasser Hussain, who was a player for the Ilford cricket club.

Newham Cricket Club player and recent graduate of Brampton Manor Academy Dhanesh Shah, 18, was one of the cricketers who attended.

Dhanesh, who first came to the club when he was five, helps out with the younger players.

Newham Cricket Club, run by volunteers, was established in 2005. Their men’s first team were recently promoted to the Hamro Foundation Essex League. Some of their players have even gone on to play for Essex County Club.

They would like to include more 7-11 year old boys and girls to their teams to help establish their aim of creating a family friendly club.

So if your child has the potential to follow in the footsteps of Newham-born and former England cricketer Ravi Bopara, sign them up to the club.

The grassroots club are also looking for local sponsors to help further their development in the sport, so if you can help contact them via their website or social media.
