Nutrition Kitchen is a free 12-week cooking and physical activity programme to help you get fitter, healthier and happier.
The programme uses simple and effective behaviour changing messages delivered by practical cooking and activity.
The aim is to achieve behaviour change within 12 weeks which leads to weight loss. This service offers:
• Cooking and physical activity to support better eating, get people moving and support in weight loss.
• 1 session per week for 12 weeks
• Female and male only groups available
• Hands on cooking with tips including practical and cultural recipes e.g. Curry in a Hurry
• Fun physical activities such as bhangra, dancing, yoga and chair based activities
• Advice and support to shop for healthy food on a budget in Newham
• WhatsApp groups and conversations to limit any barriers that people may face
• Signposting financial support, mental health services etc.
Sessions will take place at East Ham Leisure Centre and Katherine Community Centre. You are eligible if you are a Newham resident aged 18 or over and fall into the category classed as overweight or obese according to the Body Mass Index (help is available if you are unable to calculate your BMI).
