A targeted service to help Newham people suffering from extended Covid symptoms is now in operation. Residents can get access through their GP if they have ongoing Covid symptoms for 12 weeks or longer.
Around one in ten people suffer from so-called Long-Covid and the new service for Newham is specifically set-up to support them. People referred to the Long Covid service get a telephone assessment with a clinician lasting between 30-45 minutes.
Following the assessment, the clinician and the team will agree the most appropriate way to provide support.
Other help for people in Newham includes Mental Health support through Talking Therapies on 020 8475 8080 or the Newham Mental Health Crisis Line on freephone 0800 073 0066 and the Citizens Advice Bureau, providing confidential information to assist people with legal, debt, consumer, housing and other problems.
