
The Jack Leslie Campaign presented the Barking FC with a bronze statuette of the Canning Town-born Footballer Jack Leslie before a pre-match game at their home ground.
The statuette was created by the artist Andy Edwards.
Paralympic T64 High Jump Champion and Newham and Essex Beagles AC athlete Jonathan Broom-Edwards received an MBE in the 2022 New Year’s Honours list. He said: “ I will continue to use what I have achieved to promote education on the less visible disabilities and give back to the sport that has given me so much.”

NewVIc Sports Academy teams have had another impressive start to the academic year, with Basketball and Cricket Academy, Netball and Table Tennis beating teams from Newham College and Leyton Sixth Form.

NewVIc has a strong group of sporting students who have successfully qualified for the National Championships and will represent the college in Nottingham in April. It is the first time the college has had Women’s Netball and Men’s Basketball players at this level.
