Carers Community Mental Health Group were one of three Forest Gate organisations who received support from the local Coop during 2021.
Each year the Coop welcomes applications for their Local Community Fund, which allows not-for-profit community groups to apply for funding if their projects link into one or more of its three missions: fair access to food; fair access to mental wellbeing and fair access to education and employment for young people.
Member Pioneers, the Coop’s community connectors, then work closely with these groups over the year.
Money is raised by Coop members every time they shop or purchase a Coop product and members are encouraged to choose a cause that they want their money to support. Anyone can register for a membership card, which provides weekly offers for members’ shopping at the Coop and also adds 2p to their membership account for every £1 spent.
No news is bad news
Independent news outlets like ours – reporting for the community without rich backers – are under threat of closure, turning British towns into news deserts.
The audiences they serve know less, understand less, and can do less.
If our coverage has helped you understand our community a little bit better, please consider supporting us with a monthly, yearly or one-off donation.
