Students perform song written for cash-strapped children’s hospice

Children from Calverton Primary School Choir joined Richard House Children’s Hospice in officially switching on the Christmas tree lights at ExCeL London.

Before the big switch on, there were carols from the nearby school, who performed a song written especially for Beckton’s Richard House which is facing a £500,000 shortfall due to covid-19 hitting its fundraising activities.

Founded in 2000, Richard House was the first children’s hospice in London and provides care to children  and their families with life-limiting illnesses. It is one of five long-standing Newham-based charities that ExCeL supports.

Chris Baker, Chief Executive of Richard House, said: “We are delighted to be one of  ExCel London’s long-standing partners, their support at Christmas and all year round means so much to us,  particularly in these challenging times. It was great to come together with members of our community and  celebrate Richard House and the partnership in such a festive setting. Thank you ExCel!”
