All the talk this month is COP26 and the climate emergency and Newham has signed up for the UK 100 pledge against climate change, said Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz. The pledge is a commitment to make the council carbon zero by 2030 and the whole borough carbon zero by 2045. This is achieved by cutting carbon emissions so that the amount of carbon dioxide we add to the atmosphere is no more than the amount taken away.
