This August Newham Council held several community event days with the aim of giving residents the opportunity to interact with Newham Housing Services, as well as being entertained with activities, games, arts and crafts, recycling information, a free lunch and meeting different organisations from the local area.
Fight For Peace Academy attended each of Newham Council’s summer housing fun days to share a taster session and to raise awareness of the opportunities they offer Newham youth aged 7-25, including free boxing and martial arts classes.
The organisation originated in Brazil but now has a presence in 17 countries and has been active in Newham for the past 12 years, with a new home built in 2018/2019.
They work with young people, male and female, using fitness, education courses, employment support, personal development etc to guide young people towards reaching their full potential, the focus being on achieving peace within self, other relationships and the wider community.
Fight For Peace’s results continue to be consistent and positive, having won a number of Awards around the globe, including the Youth Justice Award, Children and Young People Now in 2020.
Head over to the academy in Woodman Street E16 any evening Monday to Friday at 6pm to become a member.
