Moving on Up (MoU) is a unique employability program founded by BTEG and Trust for London & City Bridge Trust. There are two strands to the program; one for Brent and one for Newham. The Newham side is delivered by London Works/ELBA, West Ham United Foundation, Create Jobs & Eagle London, alongside other Newham-based community organisations who are supporters of our work and mission.
We are working to target black men aged 16-24 who live in Newham, and provide them with the necessary support to elevate them out of unemployment/under-employment. We are painfully aware of the disadvantage that young black men and Newham residents face individually, and given our demographic fit both criteria, we’ve been doubling down to get as many people involved with our support as possible.
Input from our beneficiaries helps design programs’ scope. We work individually to achieve success in your career aspirations through any means necessary. We offer 1-2-1 career support and advice, personal development workshops, CV reviews and practice interviews, career-based professional mentors, and access to live jobs and paid opportunities.
Whether you’re out of work and claiming universal credit, studying at college/university, or working part/full time – then we have support and options available to you! Please reach out to us with any questions, or you can register for the program online here: www.cutt.ly/mou-event-registration
We have some careers insight events planned over the summer; featuring some high-achieving and inspirational young black professionals who work in corporate roles in our May event, with June sessions planned for those interested in careers in both Insurance and Journalism respectively.

As we move closer to the full relaxation of lockdown, alongside our surplus of volunteers and mentors, there’s never been a better time to get involved!

No news is bad news
Independent news outlets like ours – reporting for the community without rich backers – are under threat of closure, turning British towns into news deserts.
The audiences they serve know less, understand less, and can do less.
If our coverage has helped you understand our community a little bit better, please consider supporting us with a monthly, yearly or one-off donation.
