General Election 2024: Steve Hedley – Independent

Who will you vote for on 4th July? To help you make up your mind, Newham Voices asked the parties to tell our readers what they are offering. Here is Steve Hedley’s reply.

Make 4 July Independent’s Day in Stratford and Bow! Labour and the Tories have massively failed Newham and Tower Hamlets. Our boroughs are among the poorest in London with the Conservatives nationally and Labour locally neglecting the obvious needs of our people. The genocide in Gaza highlights how alike Stammer’s labour and the Tories are with both leaders justifying massacring and starving civilians as “self-defence”.

We need change, living in Newham for 30 years and in Tower Hamlets for four, I’ll argue for huge investment in council housing, education, the NHS, and in highly paid unionised jobs particularly in the green economy.

My record, a former leader of the RMT union I’ve delivered inflation busting pay rises and good jobs for local people. I’ve campaigned against council cuts, for the NHS, and for a free Independent Palestine. I’ll deliver improvements for you.

I’ll advocate renationalising gas, electricity and water and all utilities paying for this by making the rich and big corporations pay the fair share in tax.

If elected, you will be my only priority, not the Westminster elites. Don’t let the establishment take your vote for granted, Vote Hedley Independent.
