Summer seems to be fast approaching! We’re now into June, and as such thoughts turn to a (hopefully) sunny summer, to strawberries and of course to summer sports. We, The Friends of West Ham Park, are lucky to have super facilities for both cricket and tennis.

Did you know that West Ham Park has 12 tennis courts? And it offers coaching for all ages and abilities. There are also a number of leagues, which allow every player to challenge themselves… and others.

There are also three cricket nets to allow budding bowlers and batsmen (and women) to hone their skills. Scratch games can also be played on the open spaces with well maintained match facilities.

The Friends of West Ham Park are also pleased that representatives from both sports will be among the judges of our photo competition which launched in May at the Green Fair. Have you entered yet? We are looking for photographs taken in West Ham Park which will represent both sports and leisure activities, and nature and wildlife. The most impactful photos will be exhibited at the West Ham Park 150th Anniversary Celebrations on 20 and 21 July 2024.

And of course Strawberries are grown in our community vegetable garden – what better low calorie, healthy snack after an afternoon spent in the park. Enjoy the summer!
